Kuykendall James Robert ‘Jimmy’ Kuykendall passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in York, Nebraska on August 23, 1923. He grew up in Orlando and attended Orlando High School. After graduation he attended the University of Florida where he joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. His college was cut short when WWII broke out. He then served our country in the Army for the next four years. He returned to Orlando in 1946 and married the love of his life, Kittie (Williams) Kuykendall. He continued his college education and then graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park. Upon graduation from Rollins College, he started his insurance business, Kuykendall Insurance Agency, Inc. which prospered for over 50 years. He built up a well known respected business while working with his two sons and his daughter. Upon his retirement, his two sons continued to run the insurance agency which prospered for many years later. He enjoyed working in his rose garden, golfing at the Country Club of Orlando, watching his Gator games and traveling all over the world. He was active in many organizations, charities, Florida Citrus Sports, the Kiwanis Club and was dedicated to the First United Methodist Church of Orlando. He was preceded in death by his wife Kittie (Williams) Kuykendall and his sister, Lois Kuykendall Hild. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy McKissack (Frank), his sons Bobby Kuykendall (Lindy) and Jack Kuykendall (Cindy); and grandchildren Sara McKissack Mundy, Elizabeth McKissack Doyle, Lee Kuykendall, Caroline Kuykendall Frederick, Catherine Kuykendall Quintieri, Pallie Kuykendall, Madison Kuykendall, Cara Bachler, Robin Rich Blalock, Ryan Rich, Crista Collins Ingrum, Michael Collins and numerous great grandchildren. Socas Jose G. Socas, 87, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 18, 2017. He was born in Matanzas, Cuba where he was a Pharmacist. He left Cuba in 1957 and moved to Orlando where he began a career as a restaurateur managing Ronnie’s Restaurant for 17 years, owned Foxie’s Restaurant in 1970,
and in 1972, managed several restaurants within the Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World. In 1985, he opened Nozzle Master, Inc., a 30 year family owned business he shared with his son, John, until his retirement. He was an avid animal lover, especially birds. He helped create the Sanford Zoo (now Central Florida Zoo). His hobbies included, bird watching, fishing, playing dominoes, gardening, and cooking. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilfredo, Roldolfo, Armando, and Justo; and his son, Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 21 years Raquel; sisters, Connie Velasquez, Olga Socas; brothers, Sergio and Eduardo; daughters, Ana Maria Pita, Rachel Socas Irizarry; son, Jonathon; grandchildren, Elena Pita, Cristina Socas; two great grandchildren, Ian and Emi Cruz Pita.
